BOISE, Idaho and NISHIWAKI, Japan, April 7, 2011 - Micron Technology, Inc., and the Micron Technology Foundation announced today a combined donation of US $625,000 to Japan for relief efforts in response to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
"We hope the best for the people of Japan as they start the process of recovering from the earthquake and tsunami. Both our Foundation and Company are contributing money and actively working with some of our Japanese team members to help however possible," said Steve Appleton, Micron Chairman and CEO.
The Company is donating US $500,000 to support relief efforts organized by its Japanese customers, while the Micron Foundation will donate US $125,000 through a local non-profit organization, the Kobe Shimbun Public Welfare Organization. In addition, Micron's global team members are assisting the recovery efforts through individual donation efforts.
